It’s a pop-up Thursday for the CFDA, between the Made in Midtown installation at Port Authority and the Gap Pop-Up Shop at 54th and 5th. Of course it would be nice to spend the day bopping between both, but if you’re here in NYC and you have to choose, opt for Made in Midtown–it’s open for one day only!

There, you can see garments-in-progress from CFDA-anointed designers like Tom Scott and Jolibe, watch videos from the extensive interview archive that NY Design Trust fellows built over the last six months and play with interactive maps and info-graphics created for MadeinMidtown.org, a massive new project that’s sure to inform the ongoing discussion to save the Garment District. I’ll have more details to come–yesterday I spoke to designers, factory owners and union organizers about the project, and got Fern Mallis’ two cents on the matter too!
